Pygmy Raccoon in water

Mosaic - glass, ceramic

50 x 26.5 cm

Mosaic plaque. Signed

The Pygmy Raccoon is endemic to Cozumel Island, off the coast of Mexico. Critically endangered, less than 250 mature individuals remain, threatened by road expansion, hurricanes and Boa Constrictors. This endearing little raccoon was wonderful to mosaic, with its comical black mask around the eyes and bushy tail.

Emma has been creating mosaics for over 20 years, focusing on Wildlife. Aiming to give a small platform to critically endangered species, Emma loves the challenge of conveying character, fragility and movement using hard materials such as stained glass, ceramic, marble and handmade glass fused tesserae.
